Ever since I have was hired at this job, things have steadily gone down hill in terms of my relationship with my boss. At first, I thought it was going to be a great job, but it did not take long to realize that it was not exactly what I thought I was signing up for. When I was interviewed for the job, my boss seemed to be a very friendly fellow. I think it was just a front though because now I am going to call the employer helpline to see if I can get some information about business laws and employee relations.
I want to know what my rights are in this situation, because I feel like they are being stepped on, and there is no reason that my boss should treat me this way. I doubt it is even legal for him to treat me the way that he does. I would just up and quit, but I have not had any luck finding another job, and the pay is too good to just leave the job if there might be some other remedy for my situation. If I could get my boss to treat me with proper respect, then I would be more than happy to keep this job, because I do like the work.
I just think that my boss makes it a very negative work environment, and I know a lot of my co-workers are constantly unhappy due to the conditions. It puts a lot of stress on everyone. It would be one thing if the boss just criticized people for not meeting his standards. But rather, he makes really personal insults on a regular basis, and will embarrass employees in front of the rest of the workers. It is not very professional behavior at all.
